Sample Letter to Landlord: Improper Notice to Vacate - Month to Month
The following document ONLY applies to jurisdictions in Kentucky that have enacted the Uniform Residential Landlord Tenant Act. These jurisdictions are: Barbourville, Bellevue, Bromley, Covington, Dayton, Florence, Lexington-Fayette County, Georgetown, Louisville-Jefferson County, Ludlow, Melbourne, Newport, Oldham County, Pulaski County, Shelbyville, Silver Grove, Southgate, Taylor Mill and Woodlawn.

Further, this information only applies to residential leases. It does not apply to: commercial units, properties under contract for sale, hotels or motels, or people who are employed by the landlord.

Please be advised that you have not given me proper notice to vacate in accordance with Kentucky State Law.
KRS 383.695(2) of this ordinance states as follows:
"The landlord or tenant may terminate a month-to-month tenancy by a written notice given the other at least thirty (30) days before the periodic rental date specified in the notice."
Therefore, since you have failed to comply with this ordinance, your notice for me to vacate the premises at ___________________________ is improper and our rental agreement should not be terminated.
