The Kentucky General Assembly changed Kentucky's unemployment insurance program during the 2022 regular session.  The changes that were made went into effect January 1, 2023.  One of the biggest changes is that people who quality for UI benefits on or after January 1, 2023, will receive a maximum of 12 weeks of benefits.  There are other important changes to the work search requirements and what proof you have to show for your work searches.  For a comprehensive overview on the Kentucky unemployment insurance program and the recent changes, see Unemployment Insurance in Kentucky | Kentucky Justice Online.

If you are currently receiving UI, you should contact your regional Kentucky Career Center or call the Unemployment Call Center to see how these changes affect you. The Unemployment Insurance Call Center number is (502) 564-2900.  Call Center hours are 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM E.S.T. You can also schedule a phone or in-person appointment at any of the regional Kentucky Career Center offices.  Go to https://kcc.ky.gov/Pages/Locations.aspx  to find the career center nearest to you.
